Types of UPVC Door Handles
It is crucial to select the appropriate replacement Upvc handle for your home if upvc handles need replacing. Locksmiths can supply and install high-security uPVC door handles with extra security features.
The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Check these measurements to make sure that your new uPVC handles will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply force to the end of the bar, the fulcrum will turn in the direction the force is applied. This rotates the fulcrum, increasing the applied force which allows you to lift or move something that would require a greater amount of force if you were to apply directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines the distance the lever is able to move. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The greater the length of the lever more, the greater the mechanical advantage. You can calculate the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point where you're applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the end of the lever.
Levers can have different effects based on how the force is applied. A lever in class 2, for example has a tendency of turning in the opposite direction when an force of the effort is applied. The forces produced by pushing on the handle of a front door will result in rotational effects similar to those.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply increase the force you apply by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a larger amount of force applied over a shorter distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport massive amounts of cargo. The lever principle is employed in everyday tools such as crowbars. Hammer claws, fishing rods and your own legs, as you are standing on your car's hand brake.

Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are a type of door handle made from UPVC that has levers on both sides that operate the multipoint lock. Lever pad handles are available in various finishes and variations and can be used on a variety of materials, including UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold as a pair for the inner and outer door with spindles & screws included. They are also available in handed and unhanded versions for different users.
These locks can be used to replace existing upvc door. The levers are lowered to open the multipoint locks, and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They provide a bit more security than standard lever door handles, as the locking can only be done by the inside using the key.
They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt, but are a reasonable alternative to add security. The only downside is that they do not offer the same level of security like a cylinder bolt and therefore don't stop external access in the event that the door has been left open.
The majority of lever pad door handles made of upvc that we stock are made by the top manufacturers in the industry and are made from high quality components. They are also typically supplied with a manufacturers guarantee.
They are typically designed to work with the 92mm lock, or a substitute version known as a Paddock Lock. They will feature a 92mm cylinder center on the inside and 62mm on the outside and be equipped with two spindle followers. Some are supplied inserted in the back plate while others can be removed to enable different fixing centres.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches, which are the simplest of door handles are used. Pressing down on the lever triggers a simple latch mechanism inside the door to keep it closed. It can also be locked using the use of a key. Certain lever privacy handles work in the same way however, with the addition of an lock snib (like the doorknob).
A snib can be extremely useful tool, particularly in homes where privacy and security are important. You can use the snib handle to prevent your partner from entering until they are prepared. This type of handle is also popular in interior doors like bedrooms, where you might require a lock to prevent access from outside.
In certain situations there are instances where snib buttons could cause problems, particularly if you have older locks and doors that are distorted. If the snib button was accidentally pressed by someone who isn't familiar with it, your door may be slammed and you locked out. Most of the time, you can get in by knocking on the door frame or the letterbox, but this isn't the best option.
If your uPVC door has a snib button it is recommended to replace the handle with an modern E-LOK 7-Series smart lock. These smart locks can be retrofitted onto double turn pull handle kits. They come with coverplates that conceal existing holes for a seamless installation. The E-LOK app can be used to unlock doors with RFID cards or mechanical keys. Passcodes are also offered for convenience and security. The system has been tested for 200,000 cycles to ensure durability. The handles themselves are made using a solid metal structure and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for resistance to corrosion.
Lever/Moveable Pad
This popular handle design is used for front doors. It is advantageous because it has the benefit of preventing the door being opened without the key from outside when the lock hasn't been deadlocked. This is accomplished by using a 'pad-shaped' external handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.
This kind of handle is designed for uPVC doors with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle operations. This kind of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be fitted within the same lock case. It is a simple modification to the existing uPVC handles, but it might also involve changing the lock case or even a new set of handle furniture to allow for this additional function.
These aluminum lever/movable pads door handles are designed to be used on uPVC and come with an unmaintained slide bearing. They also come with fixing lugs, spring cassettes, and a non-stick slide bearing. These handles have an euro-profile cut out and can be installed on many uPVC or doors made of timber.
Lever moveable pads are offered in a variety of finishes and can be used with a variety of multipoint locks. They are designed for use with split spindle locks that have a centre cylinder of 92mm and require a separate set of split spindles provided by the manufacturer of the lock.

Lever/Moveable Snib
The lever handle is one of the most popular kinds of door handles made of upvc and comes in a range of designs. It is made up of two inline handles that can be moved and locked using a thumbturn cylinder or a key. A pad handle is an alternative to a lever/lever handle and consists of either a movable or fixed pad that can be used to control the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pads with snibs that can be triggered to secure the latch.
